There are all sorts of different things that go into marketing. I mean that this is such a broad concept you just can鈥檛 say that one thing is marketing and everything else doesn鈥檛 qualify.
You can market on the TV, on billboards, through various print mediums, on the radio, and even up in the sky. You have almost no limits to what you can do to promote and further your company.
You also don鈥檛 need to do every single format in order to be successful. Some companies are going to get a lot of business by putting up a billboard while another company won鈥檛 get a single sale.
The only way you can effectively market yourself is if you take the time to research which methods are the best for you and which ones will be ineffective in your particular area.
This is normally going to be the case, so much so that I would consider it a general rule of thumb to follow, but there will be at least one exception to the rule, and that鈥檚 business card printing.
This isn鈥檛 really a matter of whether or not color business cards will be useful in your industry. I can answer that question right here: yes they will be. Business cards are just a given no matter what kind of company you use.
Now, there is some gray area within the world of business card printing. To give an example, you might go with the standard business card design without anything flashy. Sometimes this is going to work just fine for you. People aren鈥檛 going to want anything flashy, and so the basics are all you want.
In other industries you might need something unique with your card. Think about the magnetic business cards that delivery places give out. In this particular industry you practically need your business card to be magnetic in order to be more useful to people.
In another industry you might end up needing a unique image on your card, or to make use of both the front and the back of it.
Whether or not you need business card printing at all is not really up for debate. The primary purpose of a business card will remain a source of information about you. This is how people remember your name and number so they can contact you later on. A need for something like this is so pressing you will be getting business cards made.
It鈥檚 just the details that change depending on your industry, and force you to do something different depending on what others are doing and what your customers want.
So in the end the point remains that marketing will always be dictated by your industry. Even for the form of marketing that everyone needs, your industry will still decide the details of how you use it.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has confirmed that UN helicopter which crashed in South Sudan last month killing three Russian crewmen was "shot down."
The mission said "experts who concluded the first stage of their investigation yesterday have uncovered evidence on the circumstances of the crash of a UN Mi-8 helicopter on August 26, indicating that the aircraft was shot down," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters at a daily briefing held Tuesday.
The helicopter, which was on a routine cargo flight from Wau in Western Bahr El Ghazal state to Bentiu, crashed on Aug. 26 about 10 kilometers south of Bentiu in Unity State, killing three Russian crewmen and severely injuring a fourth.
For the past two weeks, the mission has been conducting preliminary investigations into the crash. In addition to the mission's own probe, which began right after the crash, a technical investigation has also started with the participation of the United Nations, South Sudanese and Russian experts.
The mission has also confirmed that, during a phone call with a staff member in Bentiu on Aug.17, Peter Gadet, the commander of opposition forces in Unity State, alleged that UNMISS aircraft were being used to transport Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) troops and threatened to shoot it down, Dujarric said.
The staff member refuted the accusations and to ensure the safety of its aircraft, UNMISS immediately started sharing information on all its flights into Bentiu with the opposition forces as well as the SPLA.
However, the spokesman said that these findings come as a preliminary probe, it is "premature" at this stage to conclusively apportion blame for the shooting down of the helicopter.
"A more in-depth technical investigation which is being conducted in compliance with international air safety standards is underway," said Dujarric, who added that an independent Board of Inquiry has also been established by the United Nations to look into the incident and will provide additional information to determine the source of the ground fire for bringing the copter down.
Political in-fighting between President Salva Kiir and his former deputy, Riek Machar, started in mid-December 2013 and has since turned into a full-fledged conflict that also sent nearly more than 102,000 civilians fleeing to UNMISS bases around South Sudan.
Overall, the crisis has uprooted some 1.5 million people and placed more than 7 million at risk of hunger and disease.
On Aug. 15, the latest round of clashes broke out in Bentiu after the two rivals and their representatives fell short of the goal of reaching a power-sharing deal through talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, facilitated by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development.
