Dressage Brandon Carlo Jersey , a French term meaning "training", teaches a horse to be obedient, willing, supple and responsive Dressage, when done well, is seen as like a ballet for horses. Perhaps, this is so because dressage asks the same, flexibility, smoothness and vitality of horse and rider as does ballet of its performers.

Dressage at the highest level represents sport at its most graceful can only be produced when horse and rider are completely in sync. In fact dressage can be seen as the ?ultimate team sport?, with horse and rider competing together in harmony. Dressage, from beginner to master, betters stability, flexibility, and pliancy this ensures the horse can perform standard requirements to a higher level.

Present day dressage has many parallels with the work of Xenophon on the classical Greek command of horses. It was first recognized as an important equestrian pursuit during the Renaissance in Western Europe. The major European equestrian masters of the renaissance produced an ordered training plan that remains basically unchanged since and classical dressage is thought to be the fundamental of modern dressage.

Tack used in dressage is mainly black, with dark brown figuring from time to time, reflecting the seriousness. A dressage saddle is used within dressage only; this is an English-style saddle. Nowadays the saddle has lengthy and straight saddle flap, which as far as possible follows the contours of the rider's legs.

Dressage with a somewhat stuffy image may not be everyone's idea of a serious sport but there are hundreds of places throughout the world where horses and riders can compete. Once dressage was in the Olympics, at Stockholm in 1912, there was a sharp improvement in standards of all aspects of the event. With eventing and jumping, dressage now takes it place at the Olympics.

Dressage is performed in a 20 x 60 meter arena with a set of letters, A-K-V-E-S-H-C-M-R-B-P-F. The letters designate where movements are to be executed; the letters also assist the rider in judging specific distances, such as the size of a circle. Once a horse has reached the required level, procedures should be undertaken easily and elegantly with only the merest assistance from the rider.

Riders taking part in competitive dressage realise they need to concentrate on the piaffe, passage, half-pass, extended trot, and tempi changes. Competitive dressage differs from classic dressage in this respect as it does not include the aires above ground, as the majority of horses can not execute even when well trained. The rider is required to design and set to music a performance of necessary movements and figures for the Musical Freestyle, for many the highlight of the dressage competition. The tests within dressage are not composed of "tricks" to be learned automatically; the object of dressage training is to develop the horse physically and mentally, in harmony with his own natural ways of moving and thinking, and these tests are "checkpoints" to display the level of balance, strength and obedience he has reached in his training.

I hope this gives you an enjoyable introduction to and knowledge of dressage, however obviously there is far too much to fully cover in a short piece like this.

Homeschooling - the 'ins and Outs'

Author: Steve Cownley

Is Homeschooling legal?

Without a doubt, homeschooling is legal in all the 50 States of the U.S. But, that is just about where the similarity ends. Laws and regulations regarding homeschooling vary from state to state. Interpretations of these laws can vary from scholl district to school district. Additionally, these laws may change every year. The National Home Education network is a wonderful resource when it comes to the legalities of homeschooling. It has a listing of the actual state laws for each state in the U.S. Reading the laws that pertain to your state is perhaps the best way to get accurate information about these laws. But, most people need to get the laws interpreted by a qualified attorney. You can get valuable information from the support group at your locality. Additionally, many state education departments have online resources that will help you in interpreting the state requirements for homeschooling. The internet is also a good source of information. It is a good idea to check out your state laws regarding homeschooling before you start educating your child at home. This will prevent any nasty surprises on the way. If you have to move, you will need to be aware of any tests or exams that your child may need to take.

Disadvantages of public schooling

When we consign our children to public schools, we feel satisfied that they are receiving quality education'. But, are we really getting our money's worth? More importantly, are the children gaining anything from this kind of a learning procedure?

Socialization is hailed as one of the greatest advantage of schools. This is the place where the child picks up the rudiments of social skills that help him survive. But in truth, a regular school-going child can interact only with his peers. He may bully younger children or fear older ones. He does not know how to behave with an adult. This is because in the school environment he interacts only with his peers. A homeschooling environment brings in a more natural social environment.

A regular school going child cannot read literature. He cannot keep silent or think in depth about any one thing. The artificial 'busy'ness imposed upon him by the school disallows quiet
contemplation. Rowdy and destructive behavior, as seen among peers, is more noticeable in school-goers.

There is little long-standing knowledge among regular school goers because most things are learnt for the exam. There is no脗聽 correlation of facts with life. The child may know a lot, b.
